About the client
The AfriHorn Institute for Health & Research (AIHR) is an African-led health research and capacity-development institute rooted in the Horn of Africa. It works across infection prevention, antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, laboratories, vaccines, One Health, health systems and digital health.
The brief
AfriHorn needed a website that presents a serious research institute credibly to universities, governments, funders and partners, and is easy for its team to grow as new projects, publications and courses come in.
What I built
A full institutional website with a clear structure for every part of the institute's work:
- Research areas and projects: eight research areas, each with its own projects, status, lead team and expected outputs
- Centers and initiatives: pages for each of the nine centers, programs and labs, including CLINOVA AI, the institute's health-simulation and digital-innovation initiative
- Publications database: peer-reviewed papers, conference abstracts and policy briefs with authors, DOIs and PDFs
- Training Academy: courses, fellowships and an online application form
- News and insights, opportunities and partnerships pages, with forms to partner, submit a research idea or join the academy
- Site search and a newsletter sign-up with email confirmation
- Shareable Open Graph images generated for every news article and publication
Quality
- Accessibility tested with axe-core and Playwright
- Form input validated with Zod
- Responsive across phones, tablets and desktops, with a consistent design system and a living style guide page
