About the client
The Awdal Development Fund (ADF) is a non-profit founded in 2023 and run by local residents of the Awdal region of Somaliland. It works with communities to identify needs and build lasting solutions: youth skills and jobs, schools and clinics for remote villages, and stronger farming, fishing and salt-mining livelihoods.
The brief
ADF needed a website that tells its story to donors, volunteers and the diaspora, shows the work happening on the ground in each district, and makes it easy for people to give, volunteer or share a story.
What I built
- Home page with the latest field activity, testimonials from partners and community leaders, and clear calls to donate, volunteer or share a story
- District pages for Borama, Baki, Lughaya and Saylac, each with its strengths and the projects running there
- Blog of field stories, from training young entrepreneurs and women's skills programs to environmental action, salt and gold mining, and heritage tourism
- Team page with leadership, staff and volunteers, filterable by group, plus an org chart
- Community vote page for the 2025 community election, in Somali, with candidates and a live vote count
- About, contact, donate and volunteer pages
Quality
- Responsive across phones, tablets and desktops
- Images optimized and served at the right size for each screen with Next.js Image
